ABOUT MANAGED CARE
If your employee benefits include behavioral
healthcare managed care, you also have an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
provided by Dovetail. The EAP is provided free of charge for employees and
family members in their homes. Services include clinical assessments, short
term counseling when indicated, management consulting, and assistance locating
resources not provided by the EAP which may include information on attorneys,
home health care, childcare, and financial planners.
Organizations using Dovetail's managed
care services are typically self-insured. Mental health and chemical dependency
services for employees and eligible dependents who have this insurance require
prior authorization by Dovetail to receive the enhanced insurance benefit.
Dovetail is not an insurance company and does not pay insurance claims or provide
verification of coverage or benefits. Please see the back of your insurance
card for information on how to verify benefits and eligibility.
Routine outpatient managed
care is conducted by Dovetail during the regular weekday office hours:
6:30 AM - 3:30 PM Pacific
Time
7:30 AM - 4:30 PM Mountain
Time
8:30 AM - 5:30 PM Central
Time
9:30 AM - 6:30 PM Eastern
Time
This includes initial authorizations,
requests for continuing authorization, and questions regarding outpatient managed
care. Dovetail will return managed care calls after hours only for inpatient
admissions. After hours use of Dovetail's 24 hour toll free number is always
available for Dovetail EAP clients and crisis calls.
Dovetail will authorize
care to be reimbursed at the highest rate for appropriate services by licensed
clinicians: you are not restricted to an insurance company network. Please have ready and provide the following information when you
call Dovetail for an initial authorization: provider name, licensure, practice
name, mailing address, and telephone number. For all providers, note that
the first date of service is required for an authorization to be issued, so
please go ahead and make an appointment before calling Dovetail.
